Who are Geriatricians?

Geriatricians

Geriatricians are internal medicine specialists who focus on providing comprehensive and holistic health care to older people. The consultation can be provided in a clinic setting or on a visit to a residential care facility.

We are experienced in the diagnosis and management of age related conditions, including:

  • memory loss and dementia
  • depression, and other psychiatric disorder of the elderly
  • BPSD (behavioural and psychological symptom of dementia)
  • capacity assessment, including testamentary capacity
  • falls and balance and gait disorder
  • rehabilitation post surgery
  • osteoporosis
  • cardiovascular disease of the elderly
  • advanced care planning
  • palliative care

Patients over the age of 65 with complex medical problems who are referred by their General Practitioners are eligible for a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)
