A/Prof Aaron Wong trained at the University of Melbourne and is a dual qualified Consultant Geriatrician and Palliative Medicine Physician. Aaron completed his specialist training in geriatric medicine and palliative care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, Austin Health, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Calvary Health Care Bethlehem. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine, the Australia and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Medicine). His current role is the Clinical Director of Supportive and Palliative Care at Eastern Health and Palliative Medicine Specialist and Geriatrician at Epworth Eastern.
He has a strong commitment to holistic compassionate care of older people and optimising quality of life across the continuum of illness.
He has a broad skillset and expertise across many areas of geriatric and palliative medicine, with particular interest in dementia, delirium, frailty, polypharmacy and quality use of medicines, multimorbidity, supportive care in advanced illness, cancer pain/symptom management and end of life care.
A/Prof Wong is also the inaugural Australian Cynthia Goh Palliative Care Fellow with the Asia Pacific Hospice Network—an international leadership program dedicated to strengthening palliative care across diverse health systems. He holds honorary appointments with Monash University and the University of Melbourne. His research portfolio spans dementia care, delirium, quality use of medicines, innovative models of care, cancer pain, non-malignant supportive care and end‑of‑life care. He guides regional strategy as an Executive Committee member of the Eastern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium Group.
