Dr Aaron Wong is a Consultant Geriatrician and Palliative Medicine Physician. After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2009, Aaron completed his specialist training in geriatric medicine and palliative care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, Austin Health, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Calvary Health Care Bethlehem. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine, the Australia and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Medicine).
Dr. Wong works as a Consultant Geriatrician and Palliative Medicine Physician at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and at Austin Health. In these roles, he is also the Medical Lead for the RMH Residential InReach Service, RAPID Assist Palliative Care Service and the Austin Palliative Care Outpatient Service. He also provides inpatient palliative care/geriatric medicine consultation at Epworth Eastern (Box Hill) and Melbourne Private Hospital.
Aaron is passionate about holistic compassionate care of older people and optimising quality of life across the continuum of illness. He has a keen interest in improving the quality of palliative care in aged care, interdisciplinary education and has led several collaborative geriatric/palliative care quality improvement projects.
Aaron has a broad skillset and expertise across many areas of geriatric and palliative medicine, with particular interest in dementia, delirium, frailty, polypharmacy and quality use of medicines, multimorbidity, supportive care in advanced illness, cancer pain/symptom management and end of life care.
